Ze True Talent--Ephemeral and Transcendent

A while ago the mister and I were lost in the abyss of
excessive summer television, finding ourselves even
so desperate for entertainment that we watched a few
episodes of America's Got Talent. While some of
those contestants are truly talented, none of their
acts was what I would consider one of a kind. My
mister, ever inquisitive, went trawling on the Internet
in quest of what types of acts emerge victorious in
other parts of the world. And so we found Keniya
Simonova, winner of Ukraine's Got Talent. I know
the idea of watching an 8 minute youtube video
is fairly daunting, but TRUST ME, this will be worth it.

  1. It was pretty cool when the lady made a big long rectange to a big building with a star on the top.

  2. I watched that about a week ago. It's a WWII story about a woman who's husband goes off to battle, and she waits for him to return, but he never does. Because it's in Russian it gives it a very surreal appearance.

  3. I just think it's remarkable how the illustration evolves--and how out of basically nothing she creates something so unique.

  4. She is INCREDIBLE! I agree with you, Mrs. Samson. Every picture she makes is exquisite, and it is amazing how the pictures transform.

  5. Wow that was amazing. You showed it to us in class but I just had to watch it again. I find it incredible how she was able to include such detail. I didn't quite understand the plot though until Bella told us about it above ^.

  7. I was very touched by the sand art because most of my family heritage is from Ukraine. I was very impressed by how she moved the sand so fast, she is amazing.

  8. I wonder if she taught herself, or she was taught by someone...

  10. Amazing. I couldn't believe how easily she changed the expressions on the people and how she used her hands to make such beautiful illustrations. I wonder if she saves any of her favorite pieces, or just takes pictures of them. :D

  11. Yeah. I was wondering the same thing as victoria. If she saved any of her work. She couldn't hang up the pictures or anything. I think she is amazing. Not just her sand drawing skills. I loved how the scenes changed according to the music and how all the transitions connected. I also found the ending picture very touching. She also does it so amazingly quickly. She is a very talented person, and that is most likely (hopefully) why she won Ukraine's got talent. :D

  12. I wish I spoke Russian! Everyone in the audience was crying at the end, and I wish I knew what the song meant.

  16. Wow, She really has talent. What was really amazing was that she was able to make the next picture out of another picture. I also like how she made a young woman turn into an old one by making a hood, scarf, and lines on her forehead.
